Custom Software Development

Software designed around your business, not the other way around.

When standard software doesn't fit, changing the business to suit the software usually costs more than it saves. We study how the operation works and build around its actual requirements.

The problem

Why this comes up

  1. The challenge

Somewhere in most operations there is a process that is genuinely the business's own — a rate structure, an approval chain, a scheduling method, a way of handling a customer that competitors have not copied. It is usually the reason customers stay.

  2. Why existing approaches fail

Standard products handle the ordinary eighty per cent well and force a workaround for the part that matters. Bending the business to fit the product costs more than the licence saves, and it quietly costs the advantage as well.

  3. What better looks like

The unusual part is modelled properly. The ordinary parts reuse what already exists rather than being rebuilt at custom prices. And what you end up owning can be understood and extended by an engineer who did not write it.

Our perspective

Custom is the right answer less often than it is sold. Before quoting we tell you which parts genuinely need building and which are better solved by something that already exists — including when that means a smaller project for us.

How we approach it

What this means in practice

The process stays yours

If your approval chain, rate structure or dispatch process is a competitive advantage, the software should preserve it, not flatten it.

Built to be maintained

Modern stack, typed code, documented decisions. A custom system that only one person can change is a liability, not an asset.

Scoped honestly

We tell you which parts genuinely need building and which are better solved with something that already exists.

Capabilities

What we build under this

Not every engagement uses all of it. The scope follows the problem.

Requirement discovery
Time spent in the operation before anything is quoted. The output is a written scope you can disagree with, not an estimate you have to trust.
Process and data modelling
The business rules that actually govern the work — rates, tolerances, hierarchies, exceptions — written down and agreed before a screen is designed.
Integration with what stays
Tally, existing ERPs, weighbridges, GPS, batching controllers, payment and messaging providers. The systems that already work do not get replaced for the sake of tidiness.
Migration from the current system
Masters, balances and history moved across and reconciled, so go-live is not the day everyone loses their past data.
A codebase you own
Typed, reviewed, documented, in your repository. The test is whether another team could take it over — and we assume one day someone will.
Support and evolution
The system changes as the operation does. A second plant, a new rule, a new customer requirement — handled as ordinary work, not as a fresh project.

Our approach

Understanding comes first

Whichever solution fits, the process is the same. We start with the operation.

  1. Understand

    How the business actually works

  2. Analyse

Where time, money and clarity are lost

  3. Research

What the better way forward looks like

  4. Design

    Workflows, data and interfaces

  5. Build

    Modern, maintainable technology

  6. Evolve

    Improve as the business changes

Let's understand what your business needs.

Tell us how the operation runs today, what is getting in the way, and where you want it to go. The right solution is an output of that conversation.
